Wish You Were Here settings and setups

Read more: settings and setups

Keep in mind that all effect settings and setups are based on pictures and video from a certain date and/or interviews and 3rd hand transcriptions that are subject to interpretation. David often make adjustments and may not even be consequent in how he’s using the equipment. This feature should therefore only be used as a guideline for your own setup and not as a gospel. It’s also wise to acknowledge that technique, place and time, studio trickery and who knows what plays a role in David’s tones in addition to the equipment.

Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face
– fuzz 100%, volume 70%

Cornish Fuzz P-1 (listed below as Muff, only used on 1977 performances)
– sustain 70%, tone 30-40%, volume 50-60%

Colorsound Power Boost
– (mild OD) treble 9:00, bass 12:00, volume 12:00 (o’clock)
– (heavy OD) treble 9:00, bass 12:00, volume 3:00 (o’clock)

MXR Dynacomp (only used on 1977 performances)
– output 2:00, sensitivity 10:00 (o’clock)

MXR Phase 90
– rate 11:00 (o’clock)

Electric Mistress (only used on 1977 performances)
– colour 10:00, range 10:00, rate 9:00 (o’clock)

Note: Live recordings reveals that David experimented with different settings, some more dominating that others. The one listed here seems to be the typical setting for the US shows (April – July 1977).

Delay
– time 300ms (1974-75)
– time 370ms (1977)

Note: This seems to be the typical time for the delays, normally with 5-6 repeats and volume at 30%. I have listed below where the feedback/repeats are increased.
