In this brand new gear guide we’ll be examining the guitars, amps and effects David Gilmour used for the new Pink Floyd single, Hey Hey Rise Up.
The session took place in late March at David’s barn studio in Sussex, England. Although this seem to have been a spur of the moment kind of thing, in support for the war in Ukraine, some recent footage might suggests that David is working on new material as well.
Thanks Bjorn for the detailed information, as always.
Perhaps you have an answer to me. I do not understand why David uses an “Esquire replica of Fender Custom Shop” although he owns the well-known original 1955 Equire Workmate.
What can be the reason for this? and how can you be sure to see it in the video if it is the replica ?
Sry, do not understand, maybe there are technical or metaphysical or sound reasons to use a replica ?
Thanks for any clarification
The Replica was made for the 2017 Pink Floyd exhibition. I’m guessing that he didn’t want to risk damaging or loosing the original 55. Why he used the replica for this video I have no idea. Perhaps he favour it over the original? It is the replica. You can spot a Fender Custom Shop logo on the back of the headstock right at the beginning of the video and the finish is different to the original. Brighter and different scratches.
Another of Gilmour’s contributions to music and the world. Thanks, Bjorn, as always for the added detail.
