Live at Wembley settings and setups

Effects, guitars and amps Settings and setups

Keep in mind that all effect settings and setups are based on pictures and video from a certain date and/or interviews and 3rd hand transcriptions that are subject to interpretation. David often make adjustments and may not even be consequent in how he’s using the equipment. This feature should therefore only be used as a guideline for your own setup and not as a gospel. It’s also wise to acknowledge that technique, place and time, studio trickery and who knows what plays a role in David’s tones in addition to the equipment.

Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face
– fuzz 100%, volume 70%
Note: For rhythms on Money, David rolled back the guitar volume for an OD effect.

Colorsound Power Boost
– treble 9:00, bass 12:00, volume 12:00
Note: David would probably tweak the pedal during the show for the needed gain. He would also use the guitar volume to control the gain.

MXR Phase 90
– rate 1:00

Binson echo
– aprox 310-330ms (repeat mode) with variable feedback and volume.
Note: For the Time intro the Binson was set for a fast slap-back delay.

The signal was split of the pedal board into the Hiwatts + WEM racks and a Leslie 147. The Leslie is listed as an effect where it’s engaged.

Shine On You Crazy Diamond
The Black Strat (switching between pickup positions)
– Colorsound PB, Phase 90, echo and Leslie
Note: This is the setup through the song. David uses the guitar volume to adjust the ammount of gain produced by the Colorsound and he’s also switching between slow and fast rotary on the Leslie during the saxophone solo section (part 5).

Raving and Drooling
The Black Strat (bridge pickup)
– rhythms: Colorsound PB
– mid section and outtro: Colorsound PB and echo

Note: This early 1974 version was performed in standard tuning. In early 1975 they dropped it to D, as on the studio version.
